PORCELAIN - bowls
NERIAGE - Agate ware
This effect is produced by additions of metal oxide to translucent porcelain. The coloured clay is then spiral wedged in various combinations and added to the throwing clay using a variety of methods which determines the form the spiraling takes. The pieces are then bisq fired to 1050 C, cooled and removed from the kiln and hand polished, they are then refired to 1300 c and polished again.
The pieces are extremely translucent due to the quality of clay and the fineness of their profiles.
